- The Lark in the Morning. Lark in the Morning. The lark in the morning she arises from her nest. And she ascends all in the air with the dew upon her breast. And with the pretty ploughboy she'll whistle and she'll sing. And at night she'll return to her own nest again. When his day's work is over, oh what then will he do.

The Lark Sheet Music Pdf For Beginners
10/18/2016 - I read that 'The Lark' was originally written for voice and piano by Glinka, and only later arranged for piano solo by his protégé Mily Balakirev. It sounds very much like a short Chopin Ballade. They both lived at about the same time. I wrote out the trills beginning at measure 32 because (1) there was supposed to be a crescendo/diminuendo; (2) there was a fermata on the last tied half note which is impossible without slowing down the trill; and lastly to be able to do the little dip at the end of the trill. In writing out the trill, 32nd notes were too slow at 60 bpm and 64th notes were too fast. So I settled on a dotted 64th note which is a good speed but brought with it an irregular pattern that doesn't fit well in a 4/4 measure. So I extended it for an additional measure until I could end it neatly. It goes on for too long but I'm using the fermata as an excuse. This is also one of those romantic compositions that lends itself to great interpretation by the individual pianist as to tempos and dynamics. I used the YouTube performance by Evgeny Kissin as a guide.
